@Doug Lance – Suggestion. In the Profiles section, add a text field to link to one’s Amazon Author Page (or on other provider sites).
-
Doug Lance
That’s under the ”Other” tab.
-
Alan W Jankowski
I get the impression Doug does not necessarily want to link to author’s pages judging by the ads…I think the ads without links are a great idea btw, and I suggested something similar to someone who is starting up in pub…I used your e-Zine as a good example of a well-formatted e-pub btw…

Thanks Alan! Somehow I missed this note.

@Doug Lance – Please visit this screenprint http://storytechnician.com/temp/efm/a-css-glitch-1.jpg . I did not take time to highlight the problem with a red box, but just look at the bottom of the page. That happens in the current version of Firefox and Chrome. I did not test in IE.

Doug Lance
Thanks Buck! The notification plugin we use is a big buggy. How does it look on your end now?
-
Buck
That fixed the bug. Now I get the entire window.

I have to agree. A first draft is like a scaffolding; the revised drafts are the building we create with that scaffolding; a fine, firmly built, decorated and furnished building that doesn’t rise above the ground until the ungainly scaffolding goes up.

Hi everyone-
I’m new here, my name is Kelly. I’m a professional editor and proofreader based in Toledo, OH. I’m looking to build a solid clientele base, as well as help out published AND nonpublished authors. I don’t charge an initial reading fee, and my rates are very reasonable (I started this endeavor in order to help, not hurt!). Please…[Read more]

I started my editing aspirations as an MA student, as I helped to form and publish The Mill, the only literary magazine based out of the University of Toledo Press. I’ve edited drama manuscripts for individual clients, and done copyediting and/or proofreading at the professional academic level for five years now. I’ve had poetry published in…[Read more]

Welcome aboard, Kelly. Here’s hoping you enjoy your stay here at eFiction. I might find myself in need of your specific skill set somewhere in the near future. Working on my first novel manuscript; the first draft and a couple rounds of edits are done, but I know I’ll be requiring some further help in the future. Either way, until the time comes…[Read more]

I still have, at the very least, one more full sweep of edits and revisions I need to handle before I move to the next step, so it’ll be some time. That said, I do appreciate the offer and will keep your email handy.

I found this to be an interesting article about publishing methods, especially the introduction of Gumroad:
-
Doug Lance
I was talking to David on Google+ about that today. https://plus.google.com/100857132834858111246/posts/PKKmY27mh9k
Seems like eFiciton is one step ahead….

Thank you for sharing this article. The profit may be better, but the potential headaches of dealing with customers directly is enough to scare me off. I wasn’t aware of the problem at Smashwords recently, but the profit margin through them is double what it is at Amazon.

”Even though he was quite skinny, his stomach led the way. A lime green tie split his dark green collared shirt, both of which were stuffed inside a folded black apron, giving the impression he was four months pregnant and his baby bump was coming along nicely.

Not everyday you read about antitrust lawsuits against major book publishers. Reblogged post:
-
Ryan Dorrill
Awesome! I’m glad Apple is included in the lawsuit. From what I’ve read about it, their eBook platform is terrible and exploitative for authors. Also, while many other industries give you a free digital copy of stuff when you buy a physics copy (video games, music, comic books), the publishers have refused to do so. Hello, guys. Welcome to…[Read more]

Trying to look for a link about Apple’s eBook publishing, but it’s all buried until the antritrust news. If I remember correctly, though, they reserved the right to fix or lower the price of your book as they saw fit, without guaranteeing the author the original price (usually standard practice). Their contract also stipulated that if you…[Read more]

Wow, is Mr Turow a union member, because it sounds like he’s one of those radicals who’ll defend the useless middle-man at the expense of sounding like a loon. How did this pig ever become the President of the Author’s Guild and is there any way to get him out of the publishing industry? Way to try and ruin the free-market and subject fellow…[Read more]

I have a feeling Mr. Turow feels like this is endangering his books sales and that internet publishing is somehow ‘weakening’ the process that makes good books sell well and bad books sell poorly, flooding the market with lots of mediocre stuff. I don’t entirely agree with him, but I have a feeling that something like that is what’s going…[Read more]

That is a really cool idea. I think if you found a couple others in the same general genre that could be fun. A shared collection would be the icing on the cake for such a tour. Bookshops, coffe bars, libraries, and even schools could be hit. I definitely think you should keep this idea on the back burner.
-
Norv
It sounds interesting, and IMHO it could work. As a reader, I’d be looking forward to it, though I would assume the writers should be in similar genres. Not sure.
-
Stasey Norstrom
The original Trilogy Tour was centered around 3 comics that fell into the light-hearted fantasy genre. The second year though included 6 creators, but all still fell either into the same genre or at least another light/comedic genre type. I think the same genre would probably be best, at least on the onset.
-
Norv
Yes, thinking more about what I would be really interested, as a reader: I would very much look forward a little association of favorite writers of sci-fi or fantasy, for example, and their join work. It would seem easier for me as reader, and a somehow enriched experience, in a sense.
At least for short stories, novellettes or the like. It’s…[Read more]
