About

eFiction is not a literary journal. It is a fiction magazine that presents guilty pleasure fiction of all genres. It was started by Doug Lance from his dorm room in 2009.  It has since exploded in popularity to be read around the globe through the interwebs. If entertainment through reading is your thing, eFiction might be for you.

eFiction publishes fiction with a still-beating heart, fresh from the minds of their authors. While the ink is still drying, stories are pitted against each other in gladiatorial combat for the chance to reach your adoring eyeballs. Only the best stories make it into the issue.

The magazine is edited in a collaborative, inclusive process which means that the stories are chosen by readers like you. There is no hint of pretention here. The editors at eFiction know that readers know what they want to read better than editors ever could. That means that you can participate if you’d like. We encourage anyone who desires to contribute to the mag to do so in whichever way they can.

We alternate themed issues with open genre issues. Every issue has an eclectic mix of stories. Some open genre issues will have stories from science fiction or fantasy or literary. You never know what to expect and that means that every story is new discovery, as it should be. The themed issues have stories that resemble the genre that they’re based on, but they’re not required to follow all of the tropes and usual rules that you’ve come to expect. We do this because we find that it is much more fun to read something when you’re not sure what to expect.
